Why are we okay?

Why are we okay,

With the state we are in,

Living under

Perpetual fear

Unnerving paranoia

Leading lives which are

A constant reminder

Of an accepted mediocrity.

Why are we okay with that?

Why are we okay,

With this terror that looms

Over our women and children,

Driving fear into their existence

Living each day

Looking over the shoulder

Not feeling safe

In one’s own country.

Why are we okay with this?

Why are we okay,

With the state we are in,

Open drains and polluted rivers

Garbage mountains,

Smokey exhausts

Loudspeakers and horns

No water, no electricity

Why are we okay with this?

Why are we okay,

With corrupt governments

And their false promises

One bigger than the last

Loud mouths, empty brains

Pointing fingers and placing blame

No eventual winners in this charade

Everyone a loser.

Why are we okay with this?

Why are we okay with this I ask?

Why has this become our reality?

Why have we accepted this

As a part of our lives?

Why have we given up so soon?

The fight cannot be over already

How is it that we cant even keep up

With other countries in similar situations?

Why are we okay with being who we are

What we are and how we are?

  1. These are rhetorical questions, I assume, rather than ones you are expecting a reply to? Perhaps the questions are the answers?

Nice to see you here again. Only yesterday thought of you crossed my mind. I hope all is well. (Despite the rather gloomy content.)

  2. I spanned almost the entire array of topics to put my finger on one. Then one logical chord struck my mind; I should leave my print on the latest post. Makes sense, right?

Now, since I chose this post, I might as well begin my words where you end.

What we are and how we are?
What we have been and what we have become?
    Rhetoric these question might be,
    Still worth writing.

Nice going, there. Looking forward to your next post.
